1930 – 2003

RUMFORD – Bernice “Bunny” Easter, 72, died Tuesday, June 17, at the Rumford Community Hospital. She was a resident of River Road in Mexico.

Born in Rumford, on Sept. 3, 1930, she was the daughter of Ernest and Villa (Farnum) Sessions. She was a graduate of Stephen’s High School with the class of 1949 and also attended the University of Maine at Farmington. She was the Children’s Librarian at the Mexico Library and was also a substitute teacher for Hope School in Mexico.

Mrs. Easter was a member of the Rumford Grange 115 and the Oxford Pomona Grange 2 and the Maine State Grange and the National Grange. She was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church and was a volunteer at the food pantry of the church.

She was on the Adult Activity Center Board of Directors and was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout volunteer for many years. In 1998 she was chosen Volunteer of the Year for the Town of Mexico.

She was married in Rumford, on June 7, 1952 to Ronald G. Easter who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marilla Couch and her husband Kennith of Rumford; two sons, Ernest and his wife Nancy Hudak of New Sweden and Randy and his wife Jennifer of North Jay; nine grandchildren, Kate Easter of Portland, Justin Easter of Presque Isle, Greg Easter of Portland, Katrina Couch of Mexico, Hillary Easter of North Jay, Mara Couch of Leesville, S.C., Karolyn, Marcus, Kymberly Couch all of Rumford.
