1911 – 2003
AUBURN – Antonio A. Freve, 92, a resident of 401 Turner St. died Sunday morning, July 13, at the residence of his granddaughter, Cheryl Horton with his special great-grandson, Robert, and great-granddaughter, Chelsea at his side.
He was born in Auburn on Riverside Drive and never lived more than a half mile from where he was born on Jan. 13, 1911, the son of Alphonse and Emma (Dube) Freve. Mr. Freve attended Auburn schools.
He was employed for many years with St. Hilaire Roofing in New Auburn, and also had owned Freve and Sons Variety Store on the corner of Third and Dunn street in New Auburn, and later worked for Hall & Knight where he retired many years ago.
He also served many years on the board of the former New Auburn Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed golf at Prospect Hill Golf Course where he was a member, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling.
Survivors include two sons, Dorien and his wife Reay of Truro, Nova Scotia, and Raymond Freve and his wife, Elaine of Plymouth; one daughter, Diane Freve-Mason and her husband, Philip of Turner; four grandchildren, Cheryl Horton and her husband, William, William Brackett and his wife, Connie of Easton, Pa., Anthony Freve and his wife, Erika of Scarborough; and Kristen Freve of Connecticut; and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former, Cecile Poisson who died in 1991.
