I have a lot of trouble accepting the fact that the state can suddenly come up with the money to fund education at 55 percent rather than 42 percent.

The ad which I’ve been seeing on TV would lead us to believe that there is a group of legislators in Augusta who control vast amounts of money.

The legislature is us, and we do not have that kind of money at this time.

The ads also lament how horrible it is that or property taxes have “sky rocketed.”

Mine haven’t, and Bethel’s just went down. I think that our select boards do an excellent job of keeping property taxes reasonable. With all the budget problems that they have been dealing with in Augusta, this is no time to add such a burden. God only knows what would have to be taken away in order to meet this demand; it would probably be some very important services. Therefore, I urge everyone to vote no on Question 1A.
