On Nov. 24, 2003, at 3:51 p.m., the new martini bar “351” opened as one of the first smoke-free bars in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

I am impressed that this establishment had the insight to be a leader in this movement even before the enactment of the smoke-free bar bill. Clearly, they made the effort to become educated about this issue, which will not hurt business, but protect the health of their employees and patrons.

This martini bar opens as smoke-free in an area of Central Maine that is quickly becoming a more attractive place for residents and visitors. I congratulate them for their foresight.
