AUBURN – George P. Camire, 75, of 26 Merrow Rd., Auburn, died Friday, Aug. 6, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer, with his family by his side.
Born Dec. 23, 1928, in Suncook, N.H., he was the son of Napoleon P. and Virginia Rondeau Camire. He was educated in New Hampshire schools.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, and worked at Pioneer Plastics. He retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed fishing, gardening, Sunday afternoon drives all over Maine, and spending time with children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ida McNally, of Auburn, whom he married July 31, 1976; and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: George Camire Jr. and fiance Janice Chabot and children, Shawn, Steven and Karen, and great-grandchildren, Kylea and Niki; Michael and Sally Camire of Alabama and children, Norma Jean, Charles and Cassandra, Michael, Brian, Phillip and Danielle, and great-grandchildren, Megan, Amber, Abby, Emily, Talissa, Marissa, and Charles Michael, Allissa, and Dylan; Diane and Joey Morrissette and children Joey, Jeremiah, and Natasha, and great-grandchildren, Landon and Joseph; Connie and Tony Tucci and children, Joshua, Tabitha, and Rebbecca, and great-grandchild, Brent; Roland Camire and companion Jane Minnehan, and children, Cameron Camire and Candace Jarvis; Brenda Cloutier and children, Jason and Jeffrey; Cindy Haley and companion, Marc Moreau, and children, Kristopher, Jasmine, George, and Emery Haley; Todd and Lynn Ledwell, and children, Matthew Lalonde, Corey, Katie, Tristan Ledwell; his sisters, Theresa Greenleaf, and Delores and Emile Lepage of Connecticut; his brothers, Lucien, Richard and Jackie Camire, Armand and Jean Camire, and Tony.
He was predeceased two daughters, Cathy Camire and Sandra Ledwell; his brothers, Rene, Roland and Leo; and one sister, Yvette Pilotte.
