WINTHROP – Carl V. Seaman, 88, of Litchfield, died Wednesday, March 9, at the Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center in Winthrop.
He was born in Ridgeway, N.C., on May 8, 1916, to Johanna and Arnold Seaman.
In 1950, he and his wife, Thelma, bought a farm in Litchfield. He was known locally as a farmer of strawberries and vegetables, which he sold at a stand on the farm. He was also known for his skills as a carpenter and built a number of local homes. Since 1989, he and Thelma have resided during the winter months in Bradenton, Fla.
He was active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lewiston from 1950 to 1985. He served many years as vice president of the church council and on the building committee. He also donated a Christmas tree yearly to the church. He later became a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Augusta.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Seaman of Litchfield; three sons, Ronald Seaman of Freeport, Michael Seaman of Litchfield, Eric Seaman of Litchfield; one daughter, Ann Johansen of Winterport; two sisters; two brothers; one stepbrother; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His daughter, Caroline Brown and his sister, Clara Strube predeceased him.
