The town, at the suggestion of Fire Chief Bill St. Michel, has requested that a fire services rating review be performed by the insurance rating agency Insurance Services Office Inc. In conjunction, a new building code has been submitted for review, prior to being voted on, which will likely take place at a special town meeting.

St. Michel is working with the Planning Board to develop fire suppression systems and new regulations for subdivisions. He has requested that the Board of Selectmen authorize him to contract with the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments for a plan and regulation recommendations. The town has received a grant that will cover 50 percent of the cost of two new hydrants.
