LEWISTON – Lewiston’s elected leaders will reaffirm their oaths of office Tuesday.

Mayor Lionel Guay and members of the city’s 2006-2008 City Council and School Committee will take their oaths of office at 6 p.m. Jan. 3 in the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium.

Councilors will meet Jan. 17 for their first official meeting.

Tuesday’s meeting will be devoted to ceremony. Councilors will elect a president at the meeting and the school committee will elect a chairperson. Those votes will be followed by speeches by Mayor Guay, the council president and School Committee chairperson.

The evening features Lewiston High School Senior Katelyn Sirois singing the National Anthem and Deacon Denis Mailhot of Auburn delivering the the invocation and benediction prayers. The Lewiston Fire and Police Department Honor Guards will lead the entrance procession of elected officials and conduct the presentation and retirement of the flags.

A dessert reception immediately follows the ceremony at the Middle School.
