POLAND – Robert Douglas Bruce, 19, of Lewiston, died Sunday, Dec. 24, as the result of a car accident in Poland.

He was born on July 11, 1987, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Marcus C. Bruce and Jill Sturtevant Bruce and moved to Lewiston, when he was 6 weeks old. He attended schools in Lewiston and graduated from LHS this past June. Robert was proud to be on the LHS Blue Devils varsity football team. This September, Robert started college at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., where he was majoring in media studies and communication.

An avid sports fan, Robert loved the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox. He was also an accomplished public speaker and was selected as one of the first United Way Young Executives.

Robert had an outgoing personality and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. He shared an optimism and passion for life that made a lasting impression on those who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Jill Bruce; his father, Marcus Bruce; his brothers, David Bruce and Richard Bruce; his grandmother, Nancy Sturtevant of Wilmington, Del.; his aunt and uncle, Lula and Levi Hill of Hyannis, Mass.; and numerous beloved family members in Virginia, Texas and Delaware.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Harold “Dutch” Sturtevant; and his uncles, Robert Sturtevant and Barry Bruce.
