Gerard L. Brillant
1930 – 2009
LEWISTON — Gerard L. Brillant, 79, of 18 High St., Brunswick, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, at Russell Park Manor.
He was born in Brunswick, Oct. 9, 1930, the son of the late Francois E.L. and Albertine Allard Brillant. He was educated in Brunswick schools and served his country in the U.S. Army. His career with the First National Food Stores spanned 30 years, where he started as a box boy then on to meat cutter and moved up to management and at the time of his retirement was superintendent of all the New England stores.
He was married to Beatrice Gagnon, who predeceased him in 1982. He later married Fleurette Lamar, who predeceased him in 2006.
He enjoyed fishing, lobstering, carpentry, gardening and candlepin bowling. He was a member of the Brunswick Knights of Columbus, the Fourth Degree Assembly and the Vigilants at St. John’s Church in Brunswick.
After retirement, he had a small custodian business and later a handyman business.
He is survived by three daughters, Jeannine Boyd and husband, Rick, of Hampton, Va., Pauline Demers and husband, Omer, of Livermore and Louise Cremona and husband, Tom, of Livermore; a son, Jerry Brillant and wife, Felicia of Tyrone, Ga.; grandchildren, Amy Jones, Dr. Brad Boyd, Brian O’Donoghue, Patricia O’Donoghue, Joseph Brillant, Jennifer Larson, Sophia Brillant, Sarah Brillant, Alex Brillant and Rich Lamar; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Kristen Adams, Ava Larson and Colin Boyd.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Rita LeBlanc and Lorraine Tardiff.
