AUBURN — Albert R. Carrier, 87, formerly of 173 Seventh St., Auburn, died peacefully with his family at his side Saturday, July 31, at Clover Manor Nursing Home.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 8, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Landry Carrier. He was educated in Auburn schools and served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He was married on Aug. 26, 1946, to the late Lucille Berube Carrier who passed away on Feb. 24, 2009.

Albert was a member of St. Louis parish.

Albert’s baking career first initiated at Twin City Bakery, later as foreman at Dupont Bakery and finally at Country Kitchen Bakery. Following his work in the baking industry, Albert continued to find joy in work as a security guard for Carrier Detective Agency, St. Mary’s Hospital and finally continuing to work in retirement as an electronic technician at Summit Communications.

Albert’s lifelong passion was his devotion to his wife and 10 children.

He is survived by Therese Demers of Lewiston, Laurette Gosselin and husband, Roger, of Lewiston, a son-in-law, Richard Vaillancourt, of New York, Raymond and wife, Marie-Paule Carrier, of Manchester, N.H., and Bourg-en-Bresse, France, Pauline Gregoire of Sabattus,  Jeanne Dore and husband, Stephen, of Auburn, Jeannette Cook and husband, Gary Howke, of Woodbridge, Va., Marc and wife, Jean Carrier, of Waconia, Minn., Louise Robinson and husband, Stephen, of Poland, and Louis and wife, Sylvia, of North Haven; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Muriel Lacasse of Portland, Lorraine Lacasse and husband, Arthur, of Lewiston, Jacqueline Lavoie and husband, Maurice, of Bedford, N.H., and Lionel Carrier and wife, Jeannine, of Allentown, N.J.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Vaillancourt; his grandson, Ronald Cook; two sons-in-law, Jean Demers and Paul Gregoire; his sisters, Rita Ouellette and Laurette Carrier; and brothers, Camille and Bertrand Carrier, and the Rev. Lucien Carrier.
