AUBURN — Mechanics Savings Bank awarded $1,000 Banking on the Future Scholarships to Edward Little High School graduates Sadie Bonang, Victoria Cusson and Jennifer Rioux of Auburn.
While at Edward Little, Bonang was a member of the National Honor Society, the French Club, Drama Club, Show Choir and Youth Court. She was awarded the 2011 Tyler/Grandmaison MELMAC Scholarship and the 2009 James Hachey Award. Bonang has played an active role in various blood drives and volunteered at the Hope Haven Food Pantry. Bonang will attend Emerson College in the fall, majoring in media studies. She plans to work in either print or television journalism.
Cusson was active in the National Honor Society and earned the Highest Honors Principal’s Award during her senior year. An avid dancer, she has studied ballet, pointe and jazz for the last six years and she volunteers her time at The Dance Center assisting with youth classes. Cusson will attend the University of Maine this fall, majoring in biomedical engineering and will focus her career path on medical research and development.
Rioux was involved with the Androscoggin Valley Education Collaborative for Math and Science, the National Honor Society, the Recycle Club and the Archeology Project. She was awarded the Perfect Attendance Award K-12 in 2011 and the St. Michael’s College Book Award in 2010. Rioux also participated in soccer and softball and was a member of the ELHS Alpine Ski Team earning KVAC All-Academic Honors in 2011. Rioux played an active role in the Auburn Land Lab Summer Camp, the New Auburn Little League and as a classroom volunteer at the Walton School. Rioux will attend Smith College in the fall.
