DEAR SUN SPOTS: You help so many people with so many different questions that I’m hoping you might be able to help me with this one.
I was wondering if there is a way to find a list of famous people who live (full time or seasonally) in our great state of Maine. I do not care where they live, only that they live here. Thank you for your help in this. — Wendy, [email protected]
ANSWER: In January the Bangor Daily News compiled just such a list, and there are also a couple of websites that offer that information. The complete list is way too long to print in the column.
Assuming that actors are readers primary interest, Sun Spots has provided those, but many other famous people — writers, athletes, musicians — also live in Maine..
If there is no notation, the person either owns a home or summers in the town. Those who were born or grew up in Maine may no longer live here but still have family in the state.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read a letter in your Sept. 24 column and wanted to add to the suggestions you gave. In addition to using the fast forward buttons to skip previews, the person who sought your advice could also skip all previews and get to the main feature by pressing the “menu” button on the remote. That way you just push one button once. — David, Lewiston
DEAR SUN SPOTS: It’s very easy to skip film trailers at the beginning of your DVD. Use the DVD player’s remote and press “menu.” The anti-piracy warning will come up on the screen, followed by the film’s menu. Press “play” and your film will begin. Enjoy! — Pat Malcolm, [email protected]
ANSWER: Thank you for the tips!
