1960 – 2014
GARDINER — Michael V. Haynes, “Mike,” “Bampa Mike,” died at his home on Ash Street in Gardiner on Wednesday, June 4.
Mike was born in Rumford on Nov. 21, 1960, a son of Wallace G. Haynes and Violet (Bragg) Haynes Enman.
Mike built many stone walls and was always looking for the perfect rock to put in the garden, and because of that, I have three beautified rock gardens and a rock wall that he lovingly built by hand.
When Mike became ill two-and-a-half years ago, he started making beautiful plastic canvas boxes, which he proudly gave to many family and friends; Mike was very artistic in whatever job he did. He made many friends during his 19-year run delivering out-of-state-newspapers for Hudson RPM. He took a lot of pride in the fact that he held the job for 19 years, working on the coast, delivering from Augusta to Searsport and back to Augusta seven days a week.
Mike met his soul mate and best friend, Wendy Haley, on June 9, 1984, and together, they raised their four children: Clyde, Daniel and James Tripp and Marcia Bradley. He was proud of them all and their children.
Mike was being given around-the-clock care after Tuesday, May 27, by Wendy, Danny and Marcia when his health started to fail, including the many visits from the hospice workers, especially Karen and Renee. Also, thanks to Don Stanley and Tim Taylor for being with him when he passed. He looked forward to their visits and they meant a lot to him by allowing him to pass at home as he wished.
Mike is survived by his soul mate, Wendy Haley; his children, Clyde Tripp, Danny and Jen Tripp, James and Carolyn Tripp, Marcie and Matt Bradley and Rick and Debbie Haley; grandchildren, Chanetelle, Abrielle, Alexia, Blaise, Chase, Trey, Gage, Aiden, Matao, Gianna, Taj, Delanie, Serenidy Zabulyn and his new granddaughter, Mylin, due in July; his mother, Violet and Randy Enman; Leroy and Janice Haynes of Livermore; Mark and Michelle Haynes of Terryville, Conn.; Kenneth Haynes of Livermore; Crystal and Tim Zemen of Marengo, Ill.; Wallace and Teresa Haynes of Canton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Wallace Haynes; and his brother-in-law, Kirk Whitmore.
