1941 – 2014

AUBURN — Patricia Reese Meader, 73, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Hospice House, in Auburn.

She was born on May 21, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Frederick and Barbara (Booth) Reese. Her childhood and youth were spent in Charlestown, N.H., and she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of New Hampshire in 1962.

Following graduation, she taught high school in Dover, N.H., and, in 1965, co-founded Theatre-By-The-Sea in Portsmouth, N.H. She then lived in New York City, where she worked in publishing. In 1971, Pat moved to Maine and married John Meader. They established a farm in Buckfield, where they lived happily together until her death.

She was a Presbyterian and a member of the Leeds Community Church, which greatly enriched her life. She was church organist and choir director for a considerable time, served as a deacon, volunteered at the Clothing Center and met and gladly worked together with the ladies of the Women’s Association.

Pat was graced with many talents. She was a gifted pianist, an award-winning basket maker, she painted lovely watercolors and sewed charming quilts. She sang for years with the Androscoggin Chorale.
