ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — James “Jim” Bement, 87, a resident of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully with family on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Jim joins Geri, his wife of 57 years, where they continue to watch over their boys.
Born on May 29, 1928, Jim was raised in Greenville and served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono as a mechanical engineer.
He traveled extensively for work before settling his family in Auburn. An avid outdoorsman, motorcyclist and active Shriner, he created a tradition of living life completely and sharing love unconditionally with his family. His four sons, Jim, Ray, Neil and Scott, living in various locations around the country, will honor his memory by continuing this legacy, along with their wives, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For the past several years, Jim dedicated nearly 7,000 hours of volunteer service to the Englewood Hospital, where he made many friends and wonderful memories.
