1929 – 2016
AUBURN — Joseph “George” Cloutier, 86, of Lewiston, passed away on Saturday Jan. 23, at the Hospice House in Auburn with his family by his side.
George was born in Lewiston on Jan. 28, 1929, a son of the late Francois and Helene (Bourassa) Cloutier.
He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. In his late teens, George was drafted by the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for two years. After exiting the military, he worked at various jobs, including as a machine operator for Pioneer Plastics. During that time, he married Irene (Madore) Cloutier on Aug. 29, 1969.
George will always be remembered for his joy of helping out his sisters, brother and his family. He was always known for being a genuinely nice, kind-hearted person.
He is survived by his son, Richard Corriveau of Buckfield; as well as his siblings, Helene Lapointe of Auburn, Elise Hamel of Lewiston, Claudette Martel and her husband, Gerald, of Auburn, and Noel Cloutier and his wife, Yuri, of Danbury, Conn. He also leaves behind two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Irene; and a brother, Paul Cloutier.
