1934 – 2017
AUBURN — James “Cotton” Henry, 82, Daddy, Pops and Papa, earned his wings Saturday, Jan. 28, with his daughter, Tammy, by his side.
James was born in Fayette on July 30, 1934, to the late Walter and Winifred Henry.
He married Karen Roy on Dec. 31, 1997, and they had 19 years of a wonderful marriage.
Cotton was an avid NASCAR fan, and an owner of race cars himself that were driven by stepson David and some of his close friends, two of whom he will join in heaven. He loved to travel around the states with his beloved wife, Karen.
My daddy is survived by his loving wife, Karen, whom he loved very much and who took great care of him; brother, Erland Schmidt; son, Earl; five daughters, Cris, Cathy, Tammy, Barbie and Brenda; four stepchildren, Stevie, John, Cindy and Carol; his former stepchildren, whom he loved like his own, Ed, Charlotte, David, Becky and Carol, and their mom, Wilda, Papa, and Pops; 10 grandsons and five granddaughters; many great-grandchildren; a special little girl who remained in his life always; other grandchildren; a special friend and mother of five of his children, Rosalie; also by Sonny Danforth, whom he considered an adopted son.
Daddy is predeceased by his biological mother, Francis; his adopted parents; two stepsons, Frankie and Tim; and sister, Irene.
‘Fly high, Daddy. You will be missed so much.” Love, your one and only Brenda.
Karen and I would like to thank Dr. Matthews and Sandy for taking good care of Daddy. We would also like to thank Renee at the Hospice House, even though he was there only for a short time.
