The bids for construction of a 90-bed veterans nursing home will be requested by Aug. 9 and the dirt will fly on the site in Paris before the end of September, according to the architect for Maines? ?Veterans Homes Corp. The groundbreaking project was announced before a crowd of about 100 people at an informational meeting at the Norway Legion Hall. It was called by Rep. Rick Bennett to convince the Veterans Administration to place a nursing home in South Paris. Bennett noted the reason for the meeting was that he and others had received a lot of calls inquiring about the status of the nursing home. The $7.6 million veterans home is expected to be completed between December 1994 and February 1995, said Jeff Ackor, chief executive director of Maine Veterans Homes.
