Temple Historical Society community day
TEMPLE — The Temple Historical Society is sponsoring a rain-or-shine gathering of residents, past and present, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Town Hall.
Attendees should bring a picnic lunch for themselves; dessert and bottled water will be provided. The Spoon Band with Bill Hoyt and Lori Grassette will perform. The playground will be available, and there will be games for the children and their parents.
The Historical Room will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. and members of the society will be available to talk about the town’s history and assist in finding information. Anyone with photos or information on Temple to share is welcome to bring them.
The 2019 Temple Historical Society Calendar named “Remember When?” will be offered for sale for $10.
Weary Club members plan coffee
NORWAY — The friends and members of The Weary Club will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, for coffee, doughnuts and a time to catch up.
Mr. Magic visiting Dixfield church
DIXFIELD —Mr. Magic will perform at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, in the annex of the Dixfield Congregational Church.
This will be a for-all-ages performance.
Howland, Searles family reunion
MERCER — The Howland and Searles family reunion will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Mercer Community Center on the corner of Beech Hill Road and Route 2 in Mercer.
There will be a potluck lunch and an auction with items donated to earn money for reunion expenses. There will also be a time to socialize.
Those who wonder if they have relations are welcome to attend and find out.
Mexico Historical Society plans meeting
MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, in the Calvin Lyons Hall.
There will be a short meeting followed by a potluck supper. The guest speaker will be Gus Carlson, a pharmacist at Rumford Hospital, and the topic will be “Community Questions on Medications.”
The public is invited, and new members are welcome.
