FRYEBURG — During September and October the Goldberg Gallery at Fryeburg Academy will host a collection of oil paintings, featuring the work of artist Sandra J. Bell.
Bell, a paint en plein air and representational oil painter, was raised in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, and was exposed to the arts at an early age. She attended college and art school for a period of time before moving to Wellesley, Massachusetts. In 1998, Bell settled in Center Lovell, where she enjoys painting in her studio.
Bell’s current works are primarily representational oil paintings with a spirit of spontaneity and intimacy. She often begins with her own photography, which Bell uses as a reference to create paintings in a variety of styles and subject matters such as lake scenes, landscapes, coastal subjects, villages and backcountry life, as well as still life and portraits.
Bell has also shown her work at the Harvest Gold Gallery in Lovell and the Main Street Gallery in Norway. To learn more about the artist, visit her website at sandrajosephinebell.com.
The Goldberg Gallery is open noon to 4 p.m. and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sundays; 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays; and closed Saturdays.
