WATERFORD — This year’s Waterford Fall Foliage 5K Road Race and One-Mile Fun Run race was dedicated to John Howe, who died this past June. John was one of the original founders of the race, a lifelong runner and outstanding athlete. John Howe started the scholarship fund in memory of beloved Waterford Elementary School Principal, Tony Waldeier.
So far So far, 96 Waterford High School students have received $68,500 in scholarships.
Andrew Chingos won the 5k road race for the third straight year with a time of 18:25. In second place of the male division was Jake McCauley with a time of 18:55. Maxwell Mershimer finished in third with a time of19:45. Of the women, Sarah Keener came in first at 21:14 while Joanie Albers came in second at 21:50. Kinsey MacGregor finished in third with a time of 22:12.
Ella Brannon came in first in the one mile fun run, with a time of 7:08. Nathan Becker was second at 7:22, and Adam Stockwell was third at 7:37.
The Waterford/Harrison PTO once again organized the chili cook off and bake sale. This year’s winner of best tasting was Patrick Lawler of Waterford.
