Monday will be a beautiful sunny day, but high temperatures will soar to around 90 at the coast to mid 90s inland. With high humidity, it will feel hotter. At night, no real relief. Lows drop to the upper 60s or low 70s.

Some high temperature and overnight warm low temperature records are likely to be broken.

Much of inland Maine is under a Heat Advisory away from the mountains. The coast is under an Air Quality Alert. All around, it will be a gross, hot and humid day. Protect yourselves and your pets, stay hydrated, be aware of heat illness, and stay in air conditioned environments if you can.

For Monday, Portland’s record high of 95 degrees set in 1999 is perhaps a bit too high to break, but Augusta’s record of 92 also set in 1999 is much more likely to be broken. Tuesday may also see some high temperature records broken in Augusta.

Overnight lows Sunday night and Monday night will also likely break some records for being so warm.

Tuesday is also a hot day with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, but more clouds will make it more manageable. Some scattered thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon.

Looking for relief? A cold front Wednesday brings the change. Wednesday will see low 80s, then much cooler into the 60s by the weekend.
