SABATTUS — The selectmen approved a three-year contract Tuesday with Timothy Kane, an educator from Saco who will take over as town manager.
According to a news release, Kane was selected unanimously after a nationwide search.
Kane lives in Saco and has held the positions of school superintendent and principal throughout the state. He also served for two years as town manager in Rangeley, from 2011 to 2013, before he resigned in order to take the role as school superintendent in Washington County.
Originally from Wilton, Kane attended School Administrative District 9 schools. He graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice.
He also graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with an undergraduate degree in community health and Thomas College with a master’s degree in education.
Kane holds a doctorate in leadership studies from Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire.
According to the news release, Kane will begin his duties as town manager Sept. 13. Town leaders on Wednesday did not disclose Kane’s salary.
