Martha J. Watson

RUMFORD – Martha J. Watson, 75, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at peace.. at her home comfortably with her daughter, Michelle Nadeau, by her side and with her husband, Hal J. Watson, near her side as well. She fought and surpassed many odds with strength, heart, humor, and strong love to be with her family. She was and continues to be loved so much!She was born to wonderful and loving parents, Ralph and Caribel Jackson of Oxford. Martha went on to graduate from Oxford Hills High School, tech school then worked and as a devoted mother raised her beloved two kids (Mike and Michelle) in Mt Abram as well Dixfield while attending and then graduating from the University of Southern Maine with a BS in Nursing. She worked devotedly as a Registered Nurse at the Rumford Hospital and was respected as the caring, devoted school nurse for many people and years in the Dirigo School SAD 21 system. She was also a cherished instructor who taught CNA Courses at Region 9 in Mexico. Martha loved: her kids deeply, her husband, her grandkids, her extended family, being on ski patrol, sailing, traveling, giving, teaching, her career as well as spending time with family and friends at her and her husband’s camp on Worthley Pond. She gave so much, unconditionally, from her heart to everyone around her (i.e., family, friends, community, patients, and students). She lived life to the fullest with a heart of gold and loved to dance with her loved ones. No one could out dance her! She is, forever, the dancing queen.Martha is survived by her husband of 32 years, Hal J. Watson, her two kids: daughter, Michelle Nadeau and son-Michael (Mike) Nadeau, as well as Mike’s wife, daughter, and son-in-law, a brother-Norman Jackson, Norman’s wife-Vicky, and their family as well as the family of Martha’s deceased brother Kenneth (Ken) Jackson. Friends and family are invited to visit at the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, from 6-8 PM. There is a scholarship fund created in her honor called the Martha J. Watson Nursing Education Fund which will be made available for public contributions starting Dec. 1. Please, in lieu of flowers, and to honor her, she would want you to plant a tree or plant a lilac bush, in a place that may need some beauty and where you could just be with friends and family.
