DEAR SUN SPOTS: First Universalist Church of Auburn Unitarian Universalist will be at Whiting Farm from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 selling custom gift baskets and gift cards. There will also be a raffle. Please note that sales are cash only.

Whiting Farm is at 876 Summer St. in Auburn. This four-season farm owned by John F. Murphy Homes is dedicated to community enrichment, education and the support of people with disabilities.

Whiting Farm is selling poinsettias, Christmas trees, and wreaths during the holiday season. They grow their own poinsettias and get their trees in Maine so it’s local all the way!

We can always count on Sun Spots to get the word out. We know that people read you first every day. — No name, no town

ANSWER: Thank you for adding Whiting Farm to the list of places where local Christmas trees can be found! For more information, check out the farm’s Facebook page.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do travel agents exist anymore? I’m not computer savvy plus I really don’t have time to plan a winter vacation, I just know we are ready to go somewhere warm for a few weeks, preferably out of the U.S. and need some guidance.

This morning my husband said, “You should write to Sun Spots.” Can you send us some names of people who can help us out? We would like to meet them in person or at least talk with them on the phone. Doing business online makes us too nervous. — Billie, no town

ANSWER: I like to work with a travel specialist, too, as it gives you a little more security, especially if you intend to travel out of the country. They are experienced with all the nuances of travel, including being up to date on the COVID-19 travel restrictions in various countries and much more.

The first travel agency that comes mind is Dube Cruise & Travel Center. I’m sure they would appreciate your business. I’m including their website just so you (and other readers) can see who they are and what they specialize in. https://www.dubetravel.com/.  They are at the Potvin Mall at 250 Center St., Suite 13 in Auburn. You can reach them at 784-2916.

Are you a AAA member? Even members often overlook the fact that the organization can help you plan your trip, make airline, hotel, rental car reservations and more. The Auburn office is at 600 Center St. at the Shaw’s Plaza. The phone number is 786-0664.

Readers, if you have a travel agent to recommend, please write in!

This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name. We won’t use it if you ask us not to. Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
