Mary Ann LaPlante

LEWISTON – Mary Ann LaPlante (nee McGillicuddy), 83, died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2021 at Marshwood Center. She was born December 4, 1937, the youngest daughter of Daniel and Agnes McGillicuddy (McCarthy) and, other than a short time in Connecticut, she lived all her life in Maine. She grew up in Lewiston attending St. Joseph’s School and later Lewiston High School. She married her husband of 64 years, J.P. Normand LaPlante, on June 1, 1957.

Mary was a beloved member of the Sabattus community. Friends and family will remember her for her quick wit and her ready smile. She loved camping in the summer at Muskegon (now Two Lakes Campground), coffee ice cream, teasing people, watching her daughters’ sports events and theater performances, folding towels in “just that certain way,” and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Constance (Connie) McGillicuddy. Mary is survived by her husband Norm, their daughters Sharon Harrison of Richmond, MA and Susan LaPlante-Dube of Upton, MA, sons-in-law Robert Harrison and Larry Dube, and 4 grandchildren Kevin Cote, Madeleine LaPlante-Dube, Noah LaPlante-Dube, and Ethan LaPlante-Dube.

Mary’s family wants to thank the staff of Marshwood for the wonderful care they provided during her final days.
