AUBURN – Paul Carnes Williams, 79, of Auburn, Maine, passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021. He was born in Canton Ohio on Aug. 3, 1942 a son of the late Paul H. and Virginia (Carnes) Williams.Paul was a 1964 graduate of Bates College with a concentration in chemistry who spent his career in the water treatment field working for Penfield, Culligan and other companies in the industry, eventually owning his own consulting company, PCW Associates. Originally from Rutherford, N.J., Paul was the grandson of Pulitzer Prize winning poet William Carlos Williams. Paul lived most of his life in Cheshire, Conn., and finally retired to Maine in 1998. He loved the community in Maine and especially appreciated many people at local restaurants in Auburn-Lewiston. Paul’s companion for the last part of his life was Linda H. Carlson of Middletown, Conn. He was also beloved father to Paul Carlos Williams of Auburn, Maine and Jennifer Ellen Williams of New York, N.Y.Paul also leaves behind a sister, Suzanne Sinclaire of North Carolina.On line condolences can be shared at http://www.thefortinroupauburn.comAt Paul’s request services will be private.
