Eleanor R. Small

AUBURN – Eleanor R. Small, 88, of Mechanic Falls died Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice with family by her side. Eleanor was born in Lubec on June 23, 1933, the daughter of Theodore and Doris Laskey. She was educated in Lubec schools. In 1951, she married Francis Small and together they raised four children. Eleanor and her family relocated to Mechanic Falls from Lubec in 1961. Francis and Eleanor celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary shortly before his death in 2006. First and foremost, Eleanor was a dedicated wife and mother. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Eleanor and Francis provided a loving home and showed an unwavering commitment to family, home, education, and an ambitious work ethic. They took great pride in the accomplishments of their children. Eleanor was an accomplished seamstress and was highly skilled with knitting needles. Her home and those of family are adorned with her handiwork. For Eleanor, a day in the garden was a day well spent. She loved her gardens and enjoyed sitting on the deck surrounded by her flowers. Eleanor is survived by her four children Janice Murphy and her husband William of Hudson, New Hampshire, Mary Martin and her husband Forrest, Robert Small and his wife Debra, and Michael Small, all of Mechanic Falls: seven grandchildren: Sarah (Ian), Terrance Jr. (Lauren), Christian (Bridget), Amy (Roberto), Emily (Ben), Aaron (Emily), and Abigail (Tom) and seven great-grandchildren: Ivy, Gabriella, Elliot, Vivian, Mackenzie, Samuel, and Joshua. Survivors also include a brother-in-law, Herbert Small of Fort Pierce, Florida and former son-in-law, Terrence Martin of Hudson, New Hampshire. Eleanor will be deeply missed by her family. At Eleanor’s request a private family service will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 26 West Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls.
