Irene Marie Fraser

LEWISTON – Irene Marie Fraser, 86, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at the Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston.

Born in Lewiston on May 8, 1936, she was the daughter of Dolor and Anita Rousseau Veilleux. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of ’55. On April 20, 1963, she married the love of her life, Joseph L. Fraser, who passed away on July 4, 1991.

Irene was employed as a denturist by Twin City Dental Labs, later known as Smile Again Dentures, for 40 years, retiring at the age of 70. She enjoyed sewing, plastic crafts, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and taking trips, especially going to visit her daughter in Texas. She also enjoyed spending time at the Lewiston Public Library and loved spending time with family.

A member of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, she also belonged to Auburn Senior Citizens and Robin Dow Senior Citizens, as well as the Danville Grange.

Irene is survived by a son, Andrew Fraser, of Englewood Colo. and a daughter, Dina and husband, Michael Whitehouse, of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Paul Veilleux and wife, Jacqueline, of Lewiston, two sisters, Louise and husband, Stephen Nickerson, of Westbrook, and Gloria and husband, Paul Moore, of Nolanville, Texas; two grandsons, Michael Whitehouse and wife, Anna, and Joseph Whitehouse and wife, Meagan; and great-grandson, Kol Whitehouse.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Donat and Alphonse Normand Veilleux.

Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word Service at 11 a.m. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Memories may be shared at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
