Charity was born in Rumford in 1934 and grew up and went to school in Dixfield. He compiled the early history of what he considers his hometown from extensive research in digital newspaper accounts. He also shares his personal memories, stories and photos about his years in Dixfield and surrounding towns, according to a news release from Donna Towle, society president.

The book is dedicated to his wife Mary (1936-2016) who also grew up in Dixfield, where they met and married.

The book will be appreciated by anyone who enjoys local history and/or experienced life in the River Valley in the 1940s-50s, according to Towle.

The cost is $20, plus $5 shipping and handling.
