Steve “Al” Soulia

AUBURN – Steve Soulia aka “AL”…….” has left the building” at the age of 66, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, on March 6, 2023.

Born Aug. 2, 1956, to the late Sheridan and Grace Soulia of Peru, N.Y. “If you want to get to heaven…you’ve got to raise a little hell”… Steve lived by these lyrics.

For 20-plus years Steve and his wife, Anne, slung endless gourmet pizzas at their very successful business … “The Little Pizza Shop” located in Peru, N.Y.

After closing “shop” in New York and moving to the only state with one syllable, Maine… Steve landed a job with the Lewiston school department and left them for employment at Marden’s for a year, give or take. He returned to the Lewiston school department where he was the life of the “cafeteria party” with the kids and peers alike until he retired in 2021.

Steve was an avid soccer and hockey player in high school and continued his love for hockey playing goalie as an adult. And… the Giants were… well…GIANT in Steve’s life, with Giants memorabilia everywhere!

His love for the “Sin City”, the “wildwood weed” and his jovial sense of humor made him the guy we all wanted to hang out with!

He loved to make people laugh, pulling friendly pranks on his friends with a laugh that was dangerously contagious! Hunting and fishing were certainly not missing… an avid hunter and angler whenever he could steal some time. ALWAYS in competition with his wife Anne who inevitably would hook the “lunker” and the largest catch every time! Poor Steve…ha-ha!

For those who knew Steve… there’s a lot more stories that can’t be shared publicly… we say that lovingly. He was passionate about his music… “The Boss” being one of his many favorites…let’s just say Steve had the “Human Touch”.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Anne, of 27 years; four brothers, Dan, Chris, Brian, and Scott, two sisters, Becky Rees and Robin Palmer; and… their “blended” children Jacquelyn, Renee, Tanya, Christina, Tony and Angela; grandchildren Katherine, Jay, James, Andrew, Autumn, Alex, Jaydin; and six great-grandchildren!

So Steve… “Thanks for the memories” and for the rest of us…”The Show Must Go On”

A celebration of life will be at Anne’s house…12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday March 18, at 199 South Main St., Auburn.
