Donald F. Doyon

LEWISTON – Donald F. Doyon, 95, just shy of his 96th birthday, passed away peacefully March 12, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Lewiston in 1927, the son of the late Ernest Doyon and Corinne (Paradis). He attended Lewiston schools and graduated high school in 1945. He married Jeanne D’arc Letourneau on May 30, 1952. They eventually settled in a home that he and an uncle built where they raised their family. They had 65 years together until her passing in December of 2016.

Don served in the United States Navy and later worked at Bates Mill. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a very talented wood worker making toy chests, book cases and whirly gigs. He also loved to bake. It was very common to walk into his house and be greeted by the smell of homemade baked bread or pie. He loved all sports but his favorite teams were the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots.

He cherished spending time with his family. He was a dedicated father and husband who would do anything for family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. His sharp wit will be missed.

He is survived by his two sons, Dan Doyon and his wife Eileen of Portsmouth, N.H., Peter Doyon and wife Sandra “Sam” of Lewiston and one daughter Donna Sears and husband Steve of Seabrook, N.H.; his four grandchildren, Chris Doyon, Ashley LaChance and her husband Matt, Amber Sears, Kerri Sears; and one great-granddaughter, Maddyx LaChance. And also leaves behind one sister, Doris Theberge.

He was predeceased by his brothers Roger and Raymond Doyon, sisters Carmen Cole, Murial Deschaine, Jeanine Quinlan, and Joan Teixeira.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Beacon Hospice. Their kind, caring and compassionate ways helped make this journey go smoothly.

The family would also like to thank a special niece, Diane Lewis and her husband Jerry. We’re forever grateful for their generosity, help and support through this difficult time.
