Heavy, tropical rains on Monday could lead to flooding across parts of western Maine heading into the afternoon and evening.

Very wet weather Monday will give way to warmer temps and drier conditions towards the middle of the week, with an increase in rain chances once again heading towards the end of the week. Monday will be a washout across Maine. Temperatures will remain steady in the 60s through the day, with periods of rain and storms.

Monday evening looks very dicey, especially over the mountains. Tropical downpours will likely lead to several inches of rain and flooding. WGME graphic

Rainfall totals of up to 10 inches or more have fallen in New York and Vermont, leading to major flooding issues. While the worst of the rain will remain to the west in Vermont and New Hampshire, heavy rain with some impressive rainfall totals is still likely in western Maine, especially in the foothills and mountains.

Considering how wet we’ve been over the past month, it would not take much to lead to flooded roads and damage in Maine. Stay vigilant on Monday and remember to never drive through a flooded road.

Wednesday looks like the driest and hottest day this week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s with plenty of sun, with a chance for an afternoon storm, especially over the mountains. Some storms could be strong with gusty winds and more flooding rainfall.

Rain chances increase once again towards the end of the week. Scattered showers and storms will be likely each day from Thursday into the weekend, with temperatures in the 70s to around 80.
