Wendy Carrick and the V. Akers painting, now on exhibit, with historical society trustees Bruce Watts (L) and Peter Hammond (R).

NORWAY — The Norway Museum & Historical Society (NMHS) is pleased to announce a new addition to its collection. A Vivian Akers painting has been given in memory of former Norway resident Janet Carrick, by her daughter Wendy Carrick, of Austin, TX. Vivian Akers (1886 – 1966) was a Norway native and nationally acclaimed artist, whose art is highly prized. This oil painting shows the well-known view of Lake Pennesseewassee, looking north toward Noyes Mountain. The work was created in 1955 and is in a wooden frame Akers carved in 1954.

NMHS is grateful for the generosity of the Carrick family and invites you to visit the museum to see this and other art by Akers. The museum is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
