Safe Voices plans to hold its annual Fall Fête and Community Awards at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19,at Hilton Garden Inn Riverwatch, 14 Great Falls Plaza in Auburn, to honor area leaders for their work supporting the agency and the communities in which it works.
Rep. Kristen Cloutier of House District 94 and the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit of the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office will join Auburn resident Ralph Poland and Lewiston resident Kimberly Bailey in being honored at the event.
Cloutier will receive the agency’s Kimberley Wilson Community Transformation Award for her work to develop and pass a Paid Family & Medical Leave program for the state, her thoughtfulness around all bills that will affect survivors of domestic abuse, sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, and her energy in supporting and showing up for local nonprofit agencies, according to a news release from Grace Kendall, Safe Voices director of development and engagement.
Receiving Safe Voices’ Community Partner Award is the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault unit of the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office. This award recognizes the team’s dedication to justice for survivors and accountability for offenders, as well as its continual partnership with Safe Voices to advocate in support of survivor-identified needs.
Poland and Bailey will be awarded the Volunteer Impact Award and the Shining Star Staff Award, respectively. Poland had been a volunteer with the agency for over a decade, in addition to his work locally as a peer support mentor for others who have experienced brain injury.
Bailey, a shelter lead case manager at Safe Voices, is being honored for her work as a leader on the Safe Voices staff and her advocacy for the rights and needs of survivors.
This event has a sliding scale ticket price starting at $25.
