LEWISTON — Trinity Church at 247 Bates St. will be opened at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, until about 7 or 8 p.m., and possibly the following Wednesday, after work hours, inviting people to stop by for tea, walk the labyrinth, quiet one-on-one listening, etc. Several chaplains from the Spiritual Care Services of Maine will be there, along with Trinity’s priest and members.

All are welcome to bring some cookies or other healthy snack to share, hot tea will be provided. Some art materials also will be available, and quiet music playing (hopefully live), according to a news release from Klara Tammany with the church.

The small parish has had a significant impact on the surrounding Tree Street neighborhood during the last decades. The most recent effort is transforming its worship space into a more flexible, welcoming space that can be used for more than worship. The church had the carpet torn out, pews removed, floor refinished, and a labyrinth painted on it.

In addition to continuing to be a church, it is hoped it becomes a community center space for varied uses, but especially for spiritual nurture and the arts for those of any faith or none.

Folks are encouraged to come and just sit, or engage however they wish.
