RUMFORD – Evelyn Irene Kenney went to be with the Lord on Monday Nov. 6, 2023, at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was a resident of Rumford.
She was born in Mexico on Feb. 17, 1938, the daughter of Everette and Leona (Trask) Webster. She graduated from Mexico High School with the class of 1955.
She was married to James Kenney in 1983, and they had many good years together. She enjoyed every minute with her husband, the love of her life. They moved to Upton after retirement and enjoyed the closeness of friends, fishing, and feeding the deer in the winter. For several years they spent “mud season” in Savannah, Ga., and summer vacations at their camps in Nova Scotia and Haynesville. In 2009 they moved to Rumford to their final retirement home.
She worked as a secretary at Mexico High School and at Oxford Federal Credit Union. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, remembering birthdays and anniversaries, and visiting with their families. She and her husband hosted many family events, and their combined families were a great joy to her.
She is survived by her sons Michael Thomas and Kerry Leighton, Douten (Dan) Thomas and Donna Thomas, Stephen Thomas and Annette Thomas, all of Roxbury and Patrick Thomas and Diane Thomas of Savannah, Ga.; five stepchildren, Michael Kenney of Rumford, Timothy and Kim Kenney of Windham, Linda and Tom Puiia of Rumford, Pamela and Michael Beauchesne and Scott Kenney of Rumford; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Carol Webster of Lincoln.
She was predeceased by her husband, James; her brother, Walter Webster, a sister, Geraldine LeBlanc; a granddaughter, Jaime Austin; and two daughters-in-law, Bonnie Wing Thomas and Beverley Birurakis Thomas.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday Nov. 13 at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Interment will be in the Upton Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, prior to the funeral.
