Robert “Bob” James Harper

STAUNTON, Va. – Robert “Bob” James Harper was born on Dec. 20, 1948 in Farmington to the late John P. Harper I, and Gladys (Thorndike) Comstock.

Bob grew up in Mechanic Falls and graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1967. After high school, Bob enlisted in the army and later served in the Navy.

He loved woodworking, the Virginia Tech Hokies, following Jimmy Fortune and playing music on his guitar or harmonica. Bob was a kind, gentle and giving person with the brightest smile, an incredible sense of humor and the most heartfelt laugh.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Michaela Marie Harper of Laurel, Md.; brother, Frank Nadeau and wife, Tosha of Ashland, Va., sisters Barbara Harper of Falmouth, Ann Harper Labbe of Sterling, Va., Erma Brutscher and husband, Marty of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Carol Turner of Turner; 15 nieces and nephews; and his kitty, Mac.

A celebration of life will be held on Dec. 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 588 Minot Ave., Auburn.
