Charles E. Wood II

LEEDS – Charles E. Wood II, 70, of Leeds, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the Hospice House in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on March 19, 1953, he was the son of Charles and Laura Cobb Wood. Educated locally, Charles was a man of many talents, and at various times worked in construction, as a Maine Guide, as an auto mechanic, and as a gunsmith. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and trapper, who knew and loved the Maine woods. He could fix anything, and was always ready to help family and friends. He is survived by three daughters, Bobbie-Jean Burges and husband Kenneth of Lewiston, Amanda Toby Herr and her partner Brad Chacos of Concord, NH, and Desiree Knowles of Readfield, a son, Caleb Wood and his wife Beth of Leeds, a son-in-law, Carlton Banton of Litchfield, a sister, Sue Farkas and her husband Kenneth of Lemoine, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, several cousins, and many, many friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his frist wife, the former Betsy Morrissette, who died tragically in a fire with their daughter Mellissa-Jo Wood, another daughter, Danielle Wood, and a sister, Laura Dunn. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine Street, Lewiston, from 2 – 5 p.m. Memories may be shared online at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
