Matthew Lewis got the Maine Nordiques offense going Saturday night for a weekend sweep of the Philadelphia Rebels.

The first-year forward scored twice, once in the first and another in the second period, in a 3-0 victory in an NAHL East Division junior hockey game at The Colisee in Lewiston.

Lewis, who was acquired in a trade with the Springfield Jr. Blues this fall, put Maine up 1-0 nearly seven minutes into the first period. His goal in the middle frame came late in the stanza.

Ryan Panico assisted on both goals, while Nick Ramm helped set up the second tally.

Liam Gilmartin scored in the third period, with defenseman Nicholas Bernardo notching an assist.

Carter Richardson had 29 saves for the shutout and Rebels goalie Jakub Krbecek made 25 stops.

The Maine Nordiques (23-6-3, 49 points) enter the holiday break in first place in the East Division, two points ahead of the Maryland Black Bears (21-6-5, 47 points). Maine has won seven in a row and are 8-1-1 in their past 10 games.

The Nordiques are back in action Dec. 30 and 31 when they travel to Sewell, New Jersey, for a rematch with the Rebels (11-17-0, 22 points).
