LEWISTON — Starting next week, Central Maine Healthcare will no longer offer urgent care services at Maine Urgent Care at 685 Sabattus St., according to a statement from the hospital.

It will continue to offer X-ray and lab services at the location, augmenting X-ray and lab services already offered at Central Maine Medical Center.

The statement cited a need in the community for primary and preventative health care, and said that ending urgent care will allow the hospital system to address more of those needs with other services there. It also helps the hospital address workforce shortages and rising operating costs, the statement said.

All staff who regularly worked at the urgent care have been retained or offered other positions within CMHC to help support primary care access, according to the statement. No staff members were let go because of the decision.

The last day urgent care services will be available for patients at that location is Friday, Jan. 12.

Other urgent care services are available in the area.
