TURNER – Our sweet “Lyssie Loo” ended her valiant 11-month battle against the monster DMG, on Feb. 3, 2024, in the arms of her parents, surrounded by love.
Alyssa was born Jan. 16, 2014 in Lewiston. A fighter from the very start, she spent her 10 short years over coming every obstacle thrown her way. She is known for spirit, grit and determination. Her smile lighting up every room she walked into, her sassy attitude, spunky sense of humor and amazing giggle warming the hearts of everyone around her.
Alyssa attended Turner Primary School, where she enjoyed her time with very special teachers, and many friends who cared for her greatly and who were some of her biggest cheerleaders. Alyssa is known for her fierce love of baby dolls, bags, Big Foot and Beauty and the Beast. She could always be seen carrying a baby, or two, with at least one fancy bag or purse with her. A few highlights she spoke of often include meeting the Beast and Belle on her Make a Wish trip, spotting Big Foot at her house, and having Belle and the Beast come to her tenth birthday party.
Alyssa is survived by her loving and devoted parents, Jamie and Scott; her sister, Harper and her brother, Daniel; her grandparents Sheri and John Hodgkin and Susie and Scott Cole; her aunt, Audra Cole, “Her Girl” Katie Travers; great-grandparents Peggy, Skip and Francis; and countless cousins, special friends, and amazing teachers who have helped her move mountains over the years.
Her family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and love for her medical team, particularly the doctors and staff at Maine Children’s Cancer Program for their support, guidance and love they have shown Lyssie and our family over the last 11 months.
A celebration of Lyssie’s wonderful life will be held Feb. 16 at East Auburn Baptist Church, visiting hours 3 to 5 p.m. with a service starting at 5 p.m.
