AUGUSTA — A Jay man has been indicted by a grand jury on a dozen charges alleging he sexually molested a young child in Augusta multiple times over several years.
Kenneth Marin, 60, allegedly sexually assaulted a child multiple times between September 2012 and November 2018 when the child would have been between the ages of 6 and 11, according to a 12-count indictment issued by a Kennebec County grand jury on Feb. 21 at the Capital Judicial Center.
The charges against him include three counts of gross sexual assault, a Class A felony, two counts of unlawful sexual touching, and two counts of unlawful sexual contact, all alleged to have occurred on or between Sept. 8, 2012, and Nov. 1, 2018, in Augusta, and all involving the same victim.
Marin was also indicted on a charge of tampering with a witness or informant, on or between April 1 and April 24, 2019, also in Augusta. The indictment alleges that Marin — believing an official proceeding or criminal investigation was pending or would be instituted — caused or attempted to cause “a witness or informant to testify or inform in a manner he knows to be false.”
And he was indicted on four counts of possession of sexually explicit materials, all dated March 22, 2021, in Augusta, each involving allegations involving images of children less than 12 years old engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The charges were investigated and brought by the Augusta Police Department.
