LEWISTON – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward A. Boucher on May 8, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on April 27, 1945, in Lewiston, to Edouard and Adeline Boucher, Edward’s early life was infused with the rich cultural heritage of his French background, shaping a man of deep values, profound faith, and an enduring love for music.

A defining moment in Edward’s musical odyssey came during his tenure with the Royal Knights, a quartet of ambitious and gifted young musicians hailing from Lewiston. Established in 1958, the Royal Knights ignited a significant musical fervor, profoundly impacting the regional music landscape. This ensemble’s skill and passion not only forged an extraordinary legacy but also illuminated Edward’s burgeoning talent as a musician whose work would deeply resonate with countless individuals.

Furthermore, Edward’s musical repertoire expanded through his involvement with C’est Si Bon, a French-Canadian band that became a fixture at the annual Lewiston Franco-American Festival. Known for their vibrant performances, C’est Si Bon charmed audiences throughout the region at weddings, festivals, and dances. Their sound and spirit captured the essence of celebration and community, marking them as more than just a local band. Recognition of their unique flair led to repeated invitations to perform at the prestigious Quebec Winter Carnival in Canada, a testament to their appeal and Edward’s versatile musicality.

Edward, affectionately known across many circles as “The Jingleman,” carved a niche for himself in the world of music with his unparalleled talent for crafting memorable melodies that resonated with people far and wide. His recording studio became a sanctuary not only for musical creation but for the fostering of a community bound by the love of art. Through his work, Edward proved time and again that music was not just sound arranged in pleasing sequences but a universal language capable of touching souls.

Beyond his professional achievements, Edward’s life was a vibrant tapestry of family, faith, and service. He leaves behind a loving son, Emmanuel Boucher, and Emmanuel’s partner Nicole Leavitt, and cherished granddaughter Chloe Boucher who were the light of his life. His significant partner Joline ten Eyck and former wife, Anne-Marie Doyon. His brother Paul Boucher and sister-in-law Susan, along with nieces Michelle Nutting (and husband Jim, daughters, Allie and Katherine), Christine Boucher (and daughters, Mariah Conway and Savannah Boucher, and Kathy Mangin (and husband Richard, and sons, Parker and Wyatt Mangin), mourn his loss deeply, yet celebrate the joy and love he brought into their lives.

Edward’s personality was as unique as the jingles he crafted. Known for his unwavering kindness, generosity, and a heart that knew no bounds, he touched the lives of countless individuals. His devotion to the Lord was evident in his every action, guiding him through life with a compass of faith. Edward’s heritage was a source of great pride, and he would often share tales of his French ancestors, imbuing his family and friends with a sense of belonging to a grand, storied tradition.

Among Edward’s many passions was his love for languages, especially his efforts in translating works of spiritual significance, which he saw as a way to bridge cultures and bring people closer to the divine. His compassion knew no species, as he extended his kindness to all living beings, embodying the principle of universal love.

Edward’s legacy is one of melody, love, and unity. In his life, he composed a symphony of goodwill, faith, and familial warmth that will continue to inspire those who knew him and those who will come to know him through the stories and melodies he leaves behind.

A memorial service celebrating Edward’s life and legacy will be held on May 31, from 1-4 p.m., at East Auburn Baptist Church in Auburn. The service will reflect Edward’s love for music and his devotion to faith, offering a space for all who loved him to come together in remembrance and celebration of a life beautifully lived.
