RUMFORD – Michelle E. Belanger, 72, of Rumford, passed away at CMMC Thursday, May 9, 2024, surrounded by family and friends after battling lung cancer and double lung pneumonia.

Michelle was born Nov. 24, 1951 in Rumford to Cecile (Samson) and J. Lionel J. Breault. She married Guy Belanger on July 27, 1974. She was an X-Ray Tech in the hospital in Berlin, N.H. where she met her husband, Guy. They later moved to Rumford where they raised their family. Her faith guided her to volunteer at St. Athanasius and St. John School and parish while raising her children, and she stayed long after they graduated. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior.

Michelle is survived by her son, Keith Belanger, and wife Rebecca, and grandsons Conor, Jacob, and Hunter; daughter, Denise (Belanger) Watson and husband James; her brother, Reginald Breault and wife Candi, and sisters Joan and husband James Meese, Jeannine Law, and Ann Marie and husband James Sinclair, her brother-in-law, Carl Belanger, sisters-in-law Estelle Belanger, Jeannine Birch, Louisette Wiswell; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; and great-great-nieces.

Michelle was predeceased by her spouse, Guy Belanger; and her parents, Lionel and Cecile Breault.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to doctors, nurses, and staff at CMMC and CMMC Oncology.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at St Athanasius and St John’s Church at 126 Maine Ave., Rumford, followed by a burial at St. John’s Cemetery on Isthmus Road in Rumford. At the family’s request there will not be any visitation.
