AUBURN — Auburn residents will vote Tuesday on the School Committee’s proposed budget, which is a little more than $62.12 million, a 5.2% increase compared to the $59.07 million this fiscal year, which ends June 30.

If approved, the property tax rate for education is expected to be $9.19 per $1,000 of assessed value. For a home valued at $300,000, the tax would be $2,757.

The total state subsidy is expected to be about $38.32 million for next school year.

There were several factors driving up the budget, with the largest being rising staff salaries and benefits. There is also an expected increase in private school spending.

Voting is Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents in Wards 1 and 2 will vote at the Auburn Senior Community Center, Wards 3 and 4 will vote at Auburn Hall and Ward 5 will vote at the Boys and Girls Club.
