Ernest Richard

DIXFIELD – Ernest Richard, 89, passed away at home in Dixfield with his loving family by his side on June 11, 2024.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1934 in Rumford, the son of Alphonse and Jane Richard. He graduated from Stevens High School, the class of 1955. He worked at Diamond Match Corp. in Peru for 33 years, then worked for the University of Maine – Farmington, retiring after five years.

Ernie, aka “Honey Boy”, was well known for his pool playing abilities in the Rumford area. He loved to fish and enjoyed camping at Dummer Beach in Weld, spending time at the camp on Center Hill in Weld. In his later years, he looked forward to meeting with Jim Whittemore and his other friends at Dunkin Donuts every day,

Ernie was predeceased by his parents; two brothers and a sister; also, Gary Richard; and granddaughter, Brianna Houghton.

He is survived by his loving wife and dancing partner, Donna Wilson Richard of Dixfield; son, Brian Richard of Arlington, Texas; a stepdaughter, Tracy and husband Bill of Weld, a stepson, Douglas Sterry of Cornville; along with eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and close nephew, Richard Cote.

A private service and family gathering will be held at a later date.
