Gary L. Mitchell

FAYETTE – Gary L. Mitchell, 76, a resident of Fayette, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born Aug. 11, 1947, in Livermore Falls, the son of Almon Mitchell and Yvette (Croteau) Mitchell. Gary was a 1965 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. On Nov. 14, 2002, in Fayette, he married Doris J. McDaniel of Fayette. Gary started his work history at International Paper Company, Otis Mill on the paper machines, then transferred to I.P. Co. Androscoggin Mill in Jay where he was a bleach plant operator in the Pulp Mill. He was a member of Quarter Century Club. Gary loved tinkering in his garage, working outside with his skidder and sawing his own wood. Gary was a homebody who loved just being in Fayette with his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of Doris J. (McDaniel) Mitchell of Fayette, his four daughters, Melissa Remington of Old Orchard Beach, Julie Mitchell and companion Easton Ogarro of Livermore Falls, Leslie Mitchell of Chesterville, Rachel Oliver and companion Chris Colter of Fayette, 11 grandchildren, Tyler, Austin, and Lyndsey Bachelder, Brandon, Stephan, Jazlyn Mitchell, Jaylen Mitchell Grosse, Jasiah Mitchell Grosse, Alyssa Sohns, Mason Sullivan, Kobe Sohns, four great-grandchildren, four brothers, Tom Mitchell and wife Christine, Walter Mitchell and wife Karen, Steve Mitchell and Gerald Mitchell all of Fayette, two sisters, Gail Davis and husband Richard of Fayette and Vonnie Gerrier of Jay, mother-in-law, Wilda McDanial of Fayette, four sisters-in-law, Cindy Lee of Fayette, Sharon Synder and husband Charles of Monmouth, Tracy Wiles of Hollis, Lisa Odom and husband Terrill of Mississippi, two brothers-in-law, Keith McDaniel of Fayette, Vern McDaniel and wife Amy of Starks and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant son, James Mitchell, stepson, Billy Remington, an infant sister, Linda Mitchell, two brothers-in-law, Glen Lee and Bickford Wiles, and a sister-in-law, Sadie Roy.
