AUBURN — Flames destroyed a garage and heavily damaged an attached home at 87 Paul St. on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Fifield said two occupants and all pets escaped without injury.

Crews arrived about 9 a.m. to find flames engulfing the garage. The home sustained significant fire and heat damage, he said.

Crews were able to get the fire under control within 45 minutes, Fifield said.

The cause is being sought by the department’s fire investigator.

Assisting Auburn fire, police, public works and water and sewer departments, were fire crews from Lewiston and New Gloucester.
